❝ But the problem when you’re doing something that Colin has already done so wonderfully and brilliantly before you is that you feel you have to live up to it. I’ve learnt many years ago not to try to live up to Colin Morgan - there’s no point, he is on a level that is far beyond the rest of us, so it’s better just to have him as your goal and silently plod along behind him! ❞

FOR THE LOVE OF CAMELOT.
AN OT4 CHALLENGE.

So, this was an idea that Alex and I worked on together once we’d both had a little time to allow the news of Merlin’s ending to sink in. We wanted to create a challenge, specifically for the four main characters/cast members of the show, which would involve daily participation in the lead-up to the finale. We’re currently working on the premise that the final episode will air alongside the penultimate episode, in a double bill on the 22nd of this month, which is one idea that has been floating around. Thus, with the challenge starting later this evening, it will last for 21 days. We do have other questions in reserve, however, for if this changes and we need to add on another week. The questions are queued, so that they will be posted at a consistent time every day, at 19:00, GMT.

And that’s the basic gist of everything, really! It’s only something small and simplistic, but hopefully people will have a lot of fun doing it and it’ll be a good way of bringing us all closer together in the upcoming weeks. Look out for the first challenge, which will be posted very, very soon and if you have any queries at all, please don’t hesitate to ask either of us.

ETA: a quick update in light of the recent knowledge that the final episode will air on the 24th simply to say that the challenge will run as planned until the 22nd.

MERLIN UK CONVENTION.

Don’t get excited, this is not confirmed; this is, for now, just a very loose, stupendously idealistic idea of mine, fuelled by anger at there being next to nothing in terms of Merlin events in the UK and furthered by sadness when I think that this time next year, the cast are almost definitely going to have parted ways (LET’S NOT EVEN TALK ABOUT IT) and there won’t be a chance to do anything like this. So, at this moment in time, it’s an ambitious proposal.

I want to try — try — and organise a convention for the show in the UK. I am willing to put in the time, effort and money (hopefully I’ll be getting most of it back!) to pull this off because, without sounding cocky, we deserve this. The hardest part will be contacting the cast via their agents to propose the idea and it’s not guaranteed that we could get all — if any — of the main four, although they’re obviously who I’m aiming for, along with the knights.

The first step is this: I need to know numbers. I need to know, roughly, how many people would be interested in coming to a Merlin UK convention. And that’s where you guys come in. If you are interested, let me know by liking, reblogging or adding a comment to this post. Basically, I’m going to count roughly every note as a person sticking their hand up in the air and shouting, “Me, me, me!” If, in a couple of weeks, there’s a substantial number to actually take this crazy idea further, then I will. As of now, absolutely nothing is certain and I’m being ridiculously hopeful, but hey, we all believe in magic, right?
